EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES
Target Audience
This activity has been designed for cardiologists, cardiology fellows in training, cardiology nurses, internists, pharmacists, and other physicians interested / involved in the cardiology field.
Need Assessment
The Puerto Rico Chapter of the ACC on its 22nd Annual Scientific Meeting is committed to provide the most updated information regarding the management of complex cardiovascular diseases. A well balanced scientific program has been developed emphasizing on new technologies and developments for the management and prevention of cardiovascular disease. The program will meet the real educational needs of internist and cardiologist physicians.
Objectives for the 2011 ACC PR Chapter Scientific Meeting
1. Actualize the physicians in the 2011 new recommendations for the management of the Acute Coronary Syndrome.
2. Discuss pediatric cardiovascular cases which impact the cardiologists such as the Athlete Heart and the right ventricle pacing associated cardiomyopathy.
3. Develop skills in clinical management of chest pain syndrome, atrial fibrillation and acute heart failure.
4. Actualize our knowledge in the diagnostic procedures such as CT angio, Prosthetic Valve echocardiographic evaluation (recent guidelines), peripheral arterial disease and other modalities.
5. Therapeutic modalities changes which impact management of the cardiovascular patients such as contrast induced nephropathy, natriuretic peptides and antiplatelet new drugs.
6. Discuss recent epidemiological data concerning our local Island cardiovascular status so as abroad in Heart Transplant, congenital heart disease surgery and Mechanical support procedures.
7. Discover the cardiovascular diseases sexual differences.
8. Use the facilities of workshops to round up our cardiovascular knowledge in this 2011 with topics such as: Diastolic dysfunction: echo evaluation and EKG rhythms clues for diagnosis.
